Tried to send pissed consumer interview video by sending the link to their customer service chat but their virtual assistant couldn't handle it. 6/16/25
Under lawyers review.Coinbase owes me $6764.09
On 4/21/25, I invested $5,040.00 in Coinbase.com/TrustFunds, along with another person's (agent) funding, and made an account value of $10,059.00. I was guaranteed a $1,000.00 reward and profit on my account money.
I made an investment order as directed and advised by Coinbase.com's agent. The account grew to $11,964.11 by 4/28/25. I was told by their agent that I could withdraw my money on 4/28/25, which I planned to do. Coinbase.com owes me a balance as follows: $11,964.11 - $5,200.11 (other person's funding) = $6,764.00.
As of 5/2/25, Coinbase.com has not released and refunded my money. I need Coinbase to fully refund my money to me ASAP.

Verified ReviewerWorst customer treatment ever
- - Phishing emails appeared to be from Coinbase; I did not reply, but my account is restricted and the Verify Now link is inoperable.
In the last email from Coinbase almost two weeks ago, they said my drivers license wasn't valid. Now, in the email they sent to me today, the kyc department at Coinbase says the drivers license I submitted IS VALID!
Now, they want me to submit the new Real ID from California. I am truly sick of Coinbase! I already have a California DMV appointment for May 6th, to get my Real ID.NO ONE IN CALIFORNIA IS REQUIRED TO GET A REAL ID. It's only recommended (see the screen shots below).
So, since I have experienced this kyc nightmare, as soon as I get my Real ID, since I already provided them with a valid drivers license, on May 6th, I'll upload the "Real ID," as well. Then I only want them to CLOSE MY ACCOUNT! I can no longer tolerate the Coinbase treatment.
I am warning people about this Coinbase treatment, as most people don't yet even have a "Real ID." On May 6th, I'll upload the "Real ID," to them, since I already had an appointment with the DMV to get a "Real ID." Remember, no one in the state of California, not even current licensed drivers, are required to get the "Real ID." It's only required to fly.The Coinbase KYC department is a nightmare. As in my case, they will spend weeks, even months, jacking a USA citizen around, having us jump through ridiculous hoops!...so unfair.
This morning, April 15, 2025, going on two months later, the Coinbase KYC sent me an email stating: "Hello! We hope this message finds you well.Thank you for taking the time to respond to our request for information about your account.
We regret to inform you that the provided documents do not meet our requirements. Please upload acceptable documents to our SendSafely portal. Alert To use or continue using all account features (such as buy, sell, and/or receive crypto), please provide the requested information within the next 15 days. Requested Documents1) The document you provided is valid; however, it is not acceptable for our verification purposes.
Could you please provide a California driver's license that is compliant with Real ID, as this is an acceptable form of documentation." So, yes, of course the California drivers license I submitted IS VALID, as the Coinbase kyc department now confirms. Now, the Coinbase kyc department doesn't accept a valid drivers licens as ID? Now they say it needs to be the optional "Real ID?" Such total nonsense! No one in the state of California is required to get a "Real ID." It's only required for air travel. It just so happens that I already had a DMV appointment to get a "Real ID,' on May 6, 2025, not that I have to.
It's completely optional for all California residents.
I uploaded a screenshot clarifying the fact that no one in the state of California has to get the "Real ID.' Another annoying and stressful Coinbase kyc hoop to jump through.I'm so glad I have several accounts with several exchanges, including PayPal, and I only want the Coinbase KYC joke department to finish the kyc for me, so I can close this account forever!I can't even close the account now, until they finish this kyc nightmare, they don't allow that eithger. Warning: Coinbase does whatever they want...think about that before you send them your money.

I am truly growing to despise Coinbase. Today, April 15th, after dealing with this Coinbase BS, I get an email from the Coinbase KYC: "Requested Documents 1) The document you provided is valid; however, it is not acceptable for our verification purposes.
Could you please provide a California driver's license that is compliant with Real ID, as this is an acceptable form of documentation." So now, after first stating two weeks ago that my California drivers license wasn't valid, now they say yes, my California drivers license IS VALID...but it isn't the new "Real ID," which isn't required by anyone, unless you plan to fly. It just so happens I already have an appointment at the DMV, for 9am on May 6, 2025, to also get the CA "Real ID," which no one in California has to get, its just recommended. So, I will also get my "Real ID" just so I can show Coinbase...and then CLOSE MY ACCOUNT! I tried to close it several times in the last two months because of this bs, and Coinbase won't even let me close my account, because of this kyc bulls#$t!
I have already shifted all of my crypto purchases to other exchanges, CEX.io, PayPal, Binance & Kraken. I truly regret ever letting Coinbase be a go to, not realizing how much grief they were going to cause me.
As part of there very flawed KYC process, one week ago, they said "Your drivers license isn't valid." *** My California drivers license is valid. This has me now totally afraid of Coinbase.
If they can just say" it's not valid," and yet it most certainly is valid, I simply want to close my Coinbase account, permanently and run from them. It's takes them weeks to even respond, and so far, they can't seem to finalize my kyc. I am an American citizen, born in New Jersey. I have been a Coinbase customer since 2018.
I have a valid drivers license, of which I provided a clear image of the front and the back. My Bank of America checking account has been open since 2009, and it's the same account connected to my Coinbase account.I am truly sick of Coinbase. I dollar-cost-average my purchases of btc via routine regular buys, formerly at Coinbase. Recently I made my last two btc purchases, hassle-free, from PayPal.
Coinbase doesn't give a crap.
I only regret that I used to speak highly of them. Now, I warn everyone...run!!!
As part of there very flawed KYC process, one week ago, they said "Your drivers license isn't valid." *** My California drivers license is valid. This is an example of of people that clearly don't know what they are doing.
I will be warning evryone I know, and I know a lot of people and I am very present on social media. Coinbase doesn't give a crap about the little guy, and their customer service is only punitive.
Actually, I'm finding it very affordable and easy to now buy my btc on PayPal! I can't believe what a nightmare Coinbase has become.
As of this morning, 4/8/25, I woke up to another Coinbase kyc email: saying "your drivers license is not valid"...WTF?My California drivers license is valid, and clearly displayed in the uploaded documents I provided. This is unbelievable!
What do you do when a company, like Coinbase, just lies, shows major incompetence. and you get jacked around...for no good reason!I just took new images of the front and back of my California DL, and re-submitted them. All I want is to have them finish their *** kyc process, one that is clearly a joke, so I can close my account and begin warning people about Coinbase.
And since they put in writing that my dl isn't valid, of which it is valid, maybe I'll sue in small claims, to keep it simple. I am really beginning to despise Coinbase.
I now use PayPal to buy my bitcoin, and cheaper than Coinbase. After over a month of a restricted account, with no communication from Coinbase, they finally sent me another email.
This email asked questions. This email was also treatening: "You have 15 days to respond!" Very irritating, since my account has already been restricted longer than that. And in this email there was no request, zero, for any additional information.I copied their email and forwarded it back, with each of my answers visible inline and highlighted. Then, a few days pass, and I get another email (same "15 day" threat) requesting I upload proof of residency and address.
Remember, I provided my kyc to initially open this account, and I am an USA citizen. So, as requested I uploaded my 1) front side CA drivers license, 2) back side of CA drivers license, 3) full latest Spectrum internet and phone bill (utility bill with full name and address) 4) full SoCal Edison electric bill (utility bill with name and address) 5) California state vehicle registration (with verified full name and address).Anow, on April 6, 2025...I still wait for Coinbase to restore my account.Make no mistake: I realize to Coinbase I do not matter. This is worse treatment than I ever received at any bank. I have already completely rearanged my bitcoin buying and selling, and now I use PayPal, CEX.io, Kraken, Swan, Fold and MoonPay.
I thought Coinbase was reliable.
Now I know they are probably great for the rich...not for me.I just want my account fully restored, so I can close it forever. Trust me, I know Coinbase doesn't give a shozbot!
I was finally able to send my btc to another of my wallets, and so I was able to withdraw my funds. I then immediatley attempted to close my Coinbase account.
I was still unable to close it, as until they are done with their verification process bs (I'm a USA citizen who has provided them with the kyc they needed to initially open this account and I was a loyal Coinbase client since 2018), then I can close it. I now absolutley hate Coinbase, for stringing me out for several weeks, with my account frozen and no one would respond or contact me, with them not resending whatever email they needed to resend to request my ID...again. I have since opened accounts with four other exchanges, and I will never again use Coinbase. You can feel free to use Coinbase, as long as you know that if you have any problems, you are on your own.
Yes, you can reach out to their "customer service" people...but they can't help you. They will tell you "this is now expedited"...good luck, as I heard that from each rep, day after day, week after week..."it's expedited"...bull$%#!. I now buy my btc via Moonpay, Kraken, Crypto.com, and Fold.
I'm glad I weaned myself off of Coinbase. What I lkearned: with Coinbase you don't really matter.
Also note: the "Verify Now" button visible on my homepage is a complete joke. It is a bogus link, inoperable.
If you find yourself, as a Coinbase customer, a loyal customer for years (even a "CoinbaseOne" customer) in a position where you need to verify your account, you are unable to do anything about it. If you miss or ignore the suspicious looking email request they may send, you will have no recourse but to sit and wait...and wait...funds frozen...weeks in my case.
I am still waiting for Coinbase to resend any email request for documentation they need (they said they would resend weeks ago)...you'll wait, not hours, or days...you'll wait weeks. Unbelievable.
I have been very unfairly treated. I have been a loyal Coinbase customer for years, initially providing identification and completing all of the KYC requested... until recently. Several weeks ago, a couple of emails hit my Gmail account, supposedly from Coinbase, that I suspected were 'phishing' attempts.
The emails, supposedly sent by Coinbase, looked very suspicious and were addressed not to me or to my name, but they were addressed to 'Hello.' These emails, requesting additional personal information, had several different fonts and looked suspicious. I did not respond, but instead, I would immediately go to the Coinbase website each time I got one of these emails to see if Coinbase was requesting any additional information. There was nothing on the website that suggested they needed or required more information from me. Remember, I had been a Coinbase client since 2018.
Because of my not responding directly to these suspicious-looking emails, emails that looked like 'phishing' attempts, my account has been restricted for weeks. This is now going on several weeks that I'm unable to contact anyone in the KYC Dept. All I said in several emails to the KYC Dept was asking them to please resend everything they needed me to send so I can provide them with whatever documentation they require. I have gotten no response from the KYC Dept at Coinbase.
When I called into Coinbase, the one department of which I have been a client off and on for years said they would expedite this. Well, they did expedite it for a few weeks now. This is getting ridiculous. No one from Coinbase customer service seems to be able to help me at all.
I have been told it was expedited... that was three weeks ago. I have several hundred dollars in my Coinbase account that I have been denied access to. Furthermore, I was told that even though my account is 'in review,' I could withdraw my funds to the bank account on file.
I was told that I could withdraw those funds to the bank account on file, the same bank account that has been on file with Coinbase for six years. But that is not true. I'm unable to take any action on the website, as the "Verify Now" link is bogusand is an inoperable link, so my funds are frozen. This is so unfair, and Coinbase will not resend whatever emails they need to resend so that I can give them whatever documentation they require so that I can then withdraw my funds and close my account and never have anything to do with Coinbase again.
Coinbase has lost a loyal customer. I feel the only way to remedy this will be to first file a claim in small claims. I am now unable to withdraw my funds, and after several weeks of waiting patiently, no one from Coinbase has responded, and I'm unable to reach anyone who can help. The next thing I will do is file a small claims action and a complaint with the FTC and see if that will help me get my funds so I can close this account.
I can't believe this is the kind of treatment you get with Coinbase after being a loyal customer since 2018... much worse than a bank.
- Usa residents accepted
- Customer service is a joke
Preferred solution: Request whatever documentation you need, lift the restriction on my account so I can withdraw my funds and close this account.
User's recommendation: Don't "keep all of your eggs in one basket"...use several good exchanges, like Kraken, Binance, Crypto.com. Don't make the mistake I made, thinking I was in good hands with Coinbase. If something goes wrong, you will be on your own, hung out to dry.

- - Coinbase advised freezing the account and changing passwords; user suspects internal involvement.
March 7th 2024 at 6:30 pm, I get a notification that 5 million bonk tokens got sent to an outside wallet. I call Coinbase; they say freeze your account, change your password, and I ask for what.
Everything happened on your end; they didn't *** *** on my end, so I got the feeling that their customer service reps are planting malware. But besides the fact, someone on their end tried deleting the history on their end because at the time I had a new phone, Coinbase wasn't installed, and I've never looked up Coinbase on a browser, especially Google.
But millions of dollars of crypto are being stolen, and I'm pointing my finger at the managers having employees do it; then management tried erasing it like it didn't happen on their end. If the feds go in and pull hard drives, they will find it...

When I was travelling in South Africa, I received an email from Celsius to create a Coinbase account, so that my Bitcoin can be transferred to Coinbase. When I got to the steps to verify my ID using my UK passport (I am British), it failed to verify with a message stating that my ID does not match my country.
I have tried but failed on several occasions to change my country to the UK and to verify my passport. I would also like to point out that I am currently also working and living in Tanzania.
Please can you help me sort this issue out because I have recieved a message from Celsius stating that this must be sorted in order to receive the funds.

I am needing help with info about getting a cold wallet as some are saying that my crypto is not safe with coinbase and open to hacking and theft. Thanks
- Easy to buy and sell
- Not sure of the security of my assets
Preferred solution: info on a cold wallet
